Overview

Badrul Hisham Architect [BHA] was established in 1996. The firm provides services in architecture and interiors. In addition, BHA offers technical design advisory and project management consultancy. BHA architecture and interiors strive for functional and memorable designs which aim to enhance the built-environment and the lives of people experiencing them.

Residential

BHA residential work covers affordable housing, institutional quarters, township developments and private homes. BHA believes that the residential sector is one of its most important work since the built-environments in this sector affect most people’s experience of the built environment.

Commercial

BHA commercial work includes shop offices, stand-alone office towers and mixed commercial developments. In this sector BHA aims to design effective, efficient and functional spaces for businesses. With a suitable architectural concept in place, stakeholders financial considerations are always being balanced against users’ comfort and, buildings’ efficiency and serviceability.

Recreational

BHA has been involved in the planning of parks and, regimented courses and facilities. The design for recreational and outdoor activities pose different challenges to other built environments. In this work, BHA believes in the interplay of nature and built environments. BHA recreational and outdoor activities work blends into nature and have small footprints in andscaping.

Industrial

BHA industrial work involves custom-purpose mechanised plants. In industrial work, which is commercially driven, BHA aims its design to be highly efficient and functional. The design is aimed to be utilitarian but of significant architecture. Stakeholders financial considerations are balanced against buildings’ efficiency, functionality and service life based on a purposeful architectural concept.

Institutional

BHA institutional work is mostly educational, from primary to tertiary levels, with the stakeholders being generally the public. With the funds for most of this sector’s projects coming from the public, BHA gives closest scrutiny on the buildings’ efficiency, functionality and service life.

Conservation

BHA finds conservation and adaptive re-use work most challenging but rewarding architecturally. Painstaking academic studies, field researches and empirical trials are required to undertake these historical challenges.

Interior

BHA interiors complement the firm’s architectural works. The interiors commissions allow BHA to follow through the design concepts throughout the buildings.
